Meet Steve Wakulsky
Head Teaching Professional | Moose Ridge Golf Club
With nearly 15 years as a Class A PGA Professional and over three decades of global teaching experience, Steve Wakulsky is one of the most accomplished and respected golf instructors in the industry.
Steve currently serves as the Head Teaching Professional at Moose Ridge Golf Club, bringing world-class instruction to Michigan golfers. Before that, he spent 17 years as the Head Professional at Owosso Country Club, where he helped shape the game of countless players across all skill levels.
His journey in elite instruction began with the world-renowned David Leadbetter Golf Academies, where Steve worked for 17 years in key leadership roles. He directed academies in Thailand and Japan from 1993 to 1999, later returning to the U.S. to serve as Worldwide Director of Training and Certification for Leadbetter Academies until 2007. In this role, he mentored hundreds of instructors and helped raise the global standard for golf coaching.
Steve has worked with a wide range of students—from PGA Tour legends like Nick Faldo, Nick Price, and David Frost, to celebrities including Ray Romano, Sylvester Stallone, Lou Holtz, and NFL Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow. He even taught author Carl Hiaasen, who featured Steve in his golf memoir The Downhill Lie.
His instructional insights have been recognized by Golf Digest, which ranked him the 17th best teacher in Florida for 2005–2006. He’s also appeared on the Golf Channel and has written extensively for golf publications around the world.
